Sporting challenge, nature, and shared passion lie at the core of the thrilling ADLER hiking marathons, drawing an increasing number of passionate participants year after year. For 2025, our expert guides in Tuscany, Val Gardena, and Renon have designed a series of routes filled with adventure, new experiences, and places waiting to be discovered.

The days are getting longer, the meadows are coloured with flowers and the air is filled with the spicy scents of wild herbs: it's spring in the Val d'Orcia! It is the ideal time for long walks and bike tours through the hills. The sun is warming, but the air is crisp, making outdoor activities even more energising.

The ADLER family has grown once again: since November 17, 2024, the brand-new 5-star AKI Family Resort PLOSE has become part of our group. During your last holiday at ADLER you might have noticed a few changes. Mineral water bottles have been replaced by micro-filtered spring water in refillable bottles. Disposable bath slippers are still available on request, but no longer provided by default, and our menus increasingly feature zero-km products, many of which grow directly in our organic vegetable gardens. All these adjustments are part of a global vision that is deeply rooted in ADLER’s DNA – a vision that is now taking shape under ADLER for Planet. 

If you are travelling to Italy around mid-August, you’re bound to hear it: Buon Ferragosto! But what’s the occasion all about, exactly?

Ferragosto is an Italian public holiday celebrated on 15th August. As the main summer festivity, its importance is comparable to that of Christmas and Easter. Just like the other two festivities, it has religious significance, but its origins are much more ancient than Christianity. Ferragosto was introduced in Roman times by Emperor Augustus, hence the original name: Feriae Augusti. It was a period of rest designed to grant the population some respite between the long weeks of hard agricultural work of early summer and the harvesting season. Back then, the celebrations went on for days, and included parades, feasts and horse races. As Christianity took hold, Ferragosto was assimilated and moved to 15th August to make it coincide with the Assumption of Mary.

Nowadays, the Ferragosto holidays provide Italians with the perfect occasion to escape both the daily grind and the summer heat, retreating to the seaside, the mountains or the countryside for a relaxing break with their family or friends.

Ferragosto is one of the main highlights on the calendar at ADLER Spa Resorts & Lodges, too. In keeping with our tradition, this year we celebrated it in style with our guests at all our establishments – with festive menus, specially designed buffets, music and entertainment.

Since its inception, our AKI Kids’ Club in Tuscany has been about offering children a world of games, creativity and exciting adventures. Now, we have expanded the AKI programme with activities designed to introduce children to nature, health and wellness in a playful, age-appropriate way. This is what our friendly entertainers Veronica, Fabela and Elena have come up with to make your children’s holiday even more exciting, stimulating and educational.
